The ‘Organic
Breakfast’ catering company was created due to my great
interest and support of local and British farming. I have decided
to stop using nationwide food suppliers and shops and to instead use
produce from farms, farmers markets and local shops that are near
to home or the event that we are trading at, thus supporting local
food and farming and giving the customers a much healthier, tastier
and better quality product and keeping the money in the british farming
economy.
My family are in the farming industry
and live on the Isle of Wight. They own Briddlesford Lodge Farm in
Wootton, where they have Guernsey cows which produce delicious creamy
milk, free range chickens producing eggs and a farm shop which has
been called mini ‘Fortnums’ due to its many luxury and
unique products which are either organic, home made, farm produced
or produced in the Isle of Wight. Although many farms today struggle
to make ends meet or have had to close down due to the continued price
cuts and competition from other countries and large food chain companies,
the increase in farm shops and farmers markets has given British farming
a new lease of life and has given the local consumer a choice to have
organic, local and fresh farm foods rather than just the option available
in the supermarket which could be a foreign import so that it is cheaper,
not fresh, genetically modified or poorer quality and taste.
Our delicious ‘Organic Breakfast’
menu is proving to be a great success! Our customers at the festivals
and shows always tell us how much better the food tastes and that
they think its a much better idea to support local businesses. So
next time you are at a festival or a show look out for the Organic
Breakfast! And please remember to support local businesses!!
